Ch. 11-7, The Trigonometric Ratios ==> sine, cosine, and tangent.

Memory aid: SOHCAHTOA.

Finding the sin, cos, and tan of angles, finding the angles that have a value for their sin, cos, and tan, these are the "inverse" sin, cos, and tan functions written as sin-1, cos-1, and tan-1.

Table of Sin, Cos, and Tan from 0 to 90 Degrees - click here for copy.

The below link has a simple online calculator used to use the find the sin, cos, and tan of an angle. You put in the angle, it gives you the sin, cos, or tan of the angle. Or, by putting in the value of the sin, cos, or tan you can find the angle. To do this use the "INV" sin-1, cos-1, and tan-1 function. Read the short instructions before using this online calculator. It worked fine on my browser, your mileage may vary. There are too many online calculators to count, if you don't like this one find one you do like! Any spreadsheet (like Excel) will also do trig functions.
Homework:

A factoring shortcut: when factoring quadratics if a = 1 you don't need to factor by grouping, you can write the factors using the two "magic numbers."

Definition of the discriminant d = b2 - 4ac and using the discriminant to determine if the quadratic can be factored or not, unless d is a perfect square the quadratic can not be factored - in other words, the magic numbers don't exist and the polynomial is prime.
